World Cup 2015 is going to start soon but Sri Lanka still
playing soft cricket in 5 ODI series against India. Only Mahela and Dilshan
shown their class in 3rd ODI but none of other players contributed
much. There was a time when Sri Lanka totally depends on Snagakkara, Mahela,
Mathwes, Dilshan but that time has gone now. Selectors should think about perfect
playing 11 for Srilanka in 2015 world cup. Couple of days before Sri Lanka
cricket selection board’s chairman, Sanath Jayashurya said that Srilanka was
not ready for 5 ODI series against India. So big question is that what hurry
about this ODI series was when they were not ready now. They have lost all 3
ODI played so far and this is going to demote whole squad before world cup.
This might be experiment from Sri lanka but the thing is
that it’s not going on their way. Mahela doing well hence he should open for
Sri Lanka. Not only it’ll boost morale
of Srilakan team but also give you enough strength to middle order. Sri Lanka
is losing matches because openers are not setting big score on board. Mahela is
in good form and there is no reason why Mahela Jayawardene should not open
Srilanka inning. Mahela would be best opening player for Sri Lanka team. Kusal is also doing well so he should come soon on wicket as
experiment in remaining ODI matches.
There is nothing much to lose now but selectors should think
wisely for 2015 cricket world cup. Playing 11 should play like match winners in
world cup 2015. They should get rid of playing bad shots and throwing wickets
consistently.
It surprised us that Chathurang and Priyanjan can’t pass 30
yards circle even during power play. Hard times for Sri Lanka as their most of
big players are out of form including Sangakkara and Mathwes. So selectors have
to find youngsters before cricket world cup 2015.
