In year 1975, first cricket world cup was played in England between 7 to 21 June. It was the first world cup edition of International Cricket Council (ICC). First cricket world cup was sponsored by Prudential Assurance Company. 1975 cricket world cup officially named as Prudential Cup.

8 teams (namely Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka and East Africa) were participated in 1975 cricket world cup which were divided in two groups, 4 teams each. 



The League matches were played in 2 groups. In semifinal, top two teams were selected and then winner of semifinal matches reached in final match of 1975 cricket world cup.

Most Runs: Most runs were scored by New Zealand's batsman Glenn Turner. He scored 333 runs during the tournament.

Most Wickets: Australian bowler Gary Gilmour taken most wickets. He took 11 wickets during the tournament.
