Cricket World Cup 2011 Toss Controversy



In 2011 cricket world cup, it was the final match when controversy took place for toss. Indian captain, MS Dhoni flipped the coin in front of huge crowd in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. But no one could hear the call of Sri Lankan captain, Kumar Sangakara. It was completely unheard by MS Dhoni, match referee Jeff Crowe and Ravi Shastri. But TV producers clearly heard the Sangakara's call.  Ravi Shastri was Toss representative in final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Mean while, Former England captain, Michael Vaughan tweeted that Dhoni won the toss. Winning toss matters a lot in any cricket match, especially in big matches. Seven out of nine previous cricket world cup final match has been won by the team who batted first.

At last, it was decided that coin will be flip again and this time Sri Lanka elected to bat first. Sri Lanka putted target of 275 runs for India but India chased it successfully.
