Cricket- a rage and craze in India! The national cricket
team of India is among the strongest teams in the world. Indian team has won
three world championships including first T20 world cup. India won first world
cup in 1983 and again in 2011 world cup by beating Pakistan in final.
Indian cricket has been growing day by day. India has
appeared in all cricket world cups. Winning three world cups was not possible
without some of the world’s finest player like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar,
Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar, also known as Master Blaster is most successful
player in the history of Indian Cricket. Tendulkar started playing
international cricket when he was 16. Tendulkar played first match against Pakistan.
Tendulkar retired after 2011 cricket world cup. Tendulkar was leading run
scorer in 2011 world cup. India won first cricket world cup in 1983 and then
they won first T20 cricket world cup in 2007 and also they won 2011 cricket
world cup by defeating Sri Lanka in final match.
Currently, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is
the governing body for national Indian cricket team. The kit of national
cricket team of India comprises all the three colors of Indian flag. Primary
color of Indian cricket team’s kit is blue. Kit has sponsored by Nike Company which
has $27.2 million contract with BCCI since 2005.
Cricket World Cup matches will be held at various venues in
Australia and New Zealand. The current India cricket team has been qualified
for 2015 cricket world cup and practicing under Coach Duncan Fletcher since
2011.
Currently Indian squad does not have big names like
Tendulkar and Sahwag and the team is quite young. However, it’s packed by some
experienced players like Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Virat
Kohli and few more. The Indian national cricket team relies on experienced
players and Captain M.S. Dhoni well knows how to lead.
Recent India cricket team victories include Five ODI matches
series against Sri Lanka which was held in home ground of India. Rohit Sharma
scored record 264 runs in fourth ODI in Eden Garden, Kolkata. India has three
times world champion crown however; they have lost most of matches on bouncy
pitches of Australia and New Zealand.
India also has its under 19’s cricket team and new players
selected on the behalf of performance in home cricket. In India, cricket is not
restricted to men only. Women’s national cricket team also has a good rapport
in the world of cricket. India also organizes Indian Premier League (IPL) which
was started in 2008.
Three world cups including 2007 T20 world cup make the
Indian national cricket team an undisputed monarch in the world of cricket.
