Sri Lanka loosed do or die ODI match in Ahmadabad against India. Sri Lanka made a total of 242 which was not big chasing total for India. India won 3rd ODI match by 6 wickets. It was easy win for India against Sri Lanka. Sanath Jayasurya was man of the match in 3rd ODI against India.
Sri Lankan batsman again disappointed their fans. Only Sanath Jayasurya and Tilakratne Dilshan played well and rest of the line up couldn't do anything big. Tremendous centuary made by Jaysurya (118 runs) and Dilshan scored 53 runs. Except these two none of the Sri Lankan batsman done well. Other batsman like Parera (04runs), Sangakkara (0runs) and Mathwes(10runs) couldn't contribute much. Umesh Yadav took 4 wickets.
When India came to bat they have no intention to hit the ball in air. Indian batsman just played their natural games. India had staedy start but they accelerated their innning later on. Opener Rahane was lucky in second over of the match. In first 5 overs, Sri Lanka was 28-2 whereas India 25-0. Indian openers were not in any big hurry, they hit loose balls and good running between the wicket.
First wicket of India fall in 11th over. Rahane was the man who caught in sleep on a surprising short ball of Tisera Parera. Rahane is good player of short balls but he was surpsied with that ball and played the short late. He scored 31 runs in 47 balls.
Raydu came to the ground after Rahane dissmisal. Sri Lanka known that if they have to win from here they should take wickets consistently. So they started bowling more short balls to Raydu. First 27 balls were all short for Raydu. Also captain Angelo Mathwes tried different things with field settings which worked but Sri Lankan were unlucky few times. In the 20th overs Sri Lanka had 3 half wicket taking chance bowled by Mathwes. Between 15-20 overs Indian batsman were not getting easy runs because of tight bowling which leads to frustation. This frustation lead a chance of run out in 22 over but Sri Lanka missed it.
In starting of the match, Sri Lanka won the toss 3rd time in series and putted India on bat first. Shikhar Dhawan played tremendous ining of 91 runs and completed his 2000 International ODI runs. It is the quikest 2000 ODI runs by any Indian player. After completed his 2000 ODI runs he gone for big shots and hitted 15 runs in that particular over including one big six. He also complted his half century in this over.
On the other side, Raydu tried to made up things as he was set enough to hit big shorts. But Raydu was unlucky and ran out in 25th over. It was hesitation between Raydu and Dhawan. Raydu completed his run but Dhawan was looking at fielder, so he didn't respond.
Talking about Sri Lanka's bowing in 3rd ODI, Prasanna bowled few very good overs in his spell but that was not enough.
